250-Year-Old Farmhouse Undergoes Amazing Bathroom Renovation
As the new owner of this 250-year-old farm house, our clients reached out to us for help and guidance. The Project - A complete renovation of the master bathroom. With a deadline to move into the home, time was of the essence. The current bathroom had no vanity, vanity sink, or mirror. It contained a large alcove tub that they did not intend to use, and a small, dark corner shower with a very narrow door opening. The walls were lined with a dark brown paper mâché like covering with a glossy finish, ceasing the ability to paint them. The bathroom floor still had the original “Heart Pine” wood plank flooring and the lighting was almost nonexistent. Overall; the bathroom was not practical or functional for our clients needs.
We began by removing everything from the bathroom, down to the original wall framing. New PEX plumbing water lines and drains were installed, running from the 2nd floor bathroom down to the basement. Panasonic’s WhisperWarm lighted exhaust fan and combination heater was installed and properly vented through the slate roof of the home. An electric toe kick heater was placed under the new vanity and the baseboard heater was replaced. The entire bathroom underwent a plaster skim coat and was freshly painted. The room started to take form and looked alive again.
WarmlyYours Electric Radiant Floor Heat was installed under Daltile’s Polished black and white marble Hexagon 10”x12” bathroom floor tile. This is a feature our clients have grown to love and really enjoy. They highly recommend the radiant floor heat for a tiled bathroom floor. The digital thermometer allows you to control the floor heat through an app on your phone.
The new, enlarged walk-in shower featured 12”x24” Pamarva Classic tile in the color Carrara on all shower walls, and the coordinating 2”x2” Pamarva Classic Mosaic tile on the shower floor. This tile selection brought an element of elegance to the room. The shower was designed to incorporate glass wall panels, allowing an abundance of light into the shower while maintaining its functionality.
Featuring Fabuwood’s Allure, Galaxy; Dove 42" Vanity Sink Base, a spacious workstation was introduced to the bathroom. The cabinetry was dressed with Berenson’s Rhapsody 128mm CC matte black hardware pulls, #3040-155-P. Venezia’s Kashmir White Jumbo Quartz flows flawlessly across the vanity and into the 18” deep window jamb. The quartz countertop is now doubling as the window sill. This design feature blends custom craftsmanship with practical usage. In the vanity you will find the Kohler Caxton K-20000 rectangle undermount sink accompanied by the Moen Colinet matte black double lever widespread faucet. The shower fixtures also feature Moen’s Colinet lever trim, paired with Moen’s Greenfield rain shower head. Moen’s Eco-performance hand shower kit was included for ease of cleaning the shower walls and shower glass.
The bathroom also received updated overhead LED lighting throughout, featuring a LampsPlus Duncan 4 Light Vanity light in matte black, a recessed light over the shower, and the lighted exhaust fan. Moen’s Colinet matte black accessories were installed, merging the plumbing fixtures with the toilet tissue holder, towel ring, and 24” towel bar. The toilet was also streamline with Kohler’s Comfort Height Corbelle Skirted Toilet Tank and Bowl, a matte black toilet lever was added to pull it all together.
