Award Winning Design for Best Kitchen in East York, PA
Tearing down walls is what’s normally done in most kitchen remodel projects these days but for this project we installed walls. This 1980’s builder grade kitchen with the classic oak cabinets was long over-due for a make-over. Originally one large room served as an informal dining area, kitchen and entertainment room. We combined the dining and kitchen areas into one room creating a large space for the kitchen and installed a wall with columns creating a separate formal dining room.
We installed Elias Custom painted maple shaker style cabinetry in Floral White for the perimeter cabinetry and stained, Whale Grey cabinets for the 10ft oversized island. Viatera, Karis Quartz was selected for the countertop areas because of its similarity to the look of real marble. Two seeded glass mullion doors were incorporated to add interest and is a perfect place to display collectibles and cookbooks. Two oversized pull-out cabinets were strategically placed under the cooktop to store pot and pans. LED dimmable under cabinet lighting was installed underneath the cabinets. Round surfaced mounted dimmable LED lights with brushed nickel trim were installed in the ceiling for task lighting. A stainless-steel range hood compliments the space and serves as another point of interest. Anatolia Carrara Grigio brick marble mosaic subway backsplash tile pulls the room together. Elkay’s Quartz 60/40 low aqua divide sink in griege was selected. Moen’s Align goose-neck faucet with pull-out sprayer in brushed nickel was installed. Kichler’s Kailey linear three light pendant light fixture which hangs above the island was especially chosen for its unique square shape and brushed nickel finish. A matching mini pendant light hangs above the sink as well. Armstrong’s Luxury Alterna, Night Owl 12x24 with grey grouted tile was chosen for the flooring and laid in a running bond pattern. Custom matching columns with dental moulding and beaded trim were installed between the new dining room and kitchen which coordinates with the other existing rooms.
A large stand-alone 10’ island is the center piece of the kitchen has the ability to comfortably seat 6 people. In the middle of the island, you will find the double Rev-A-Shelf trash and recycle pull-out drawer, it also includes (4) large pull-out drawers, (2) wide storage drawers and (1) smaller center drawer.
The coffee bar/entertaining area contains a mini bar sink, dual temperature controlled mini-frig for both wine and beer, wine rack, double wall oven with combination microwave and convection oven on top, side pantry unit as well as lots of drawers. Open shelving salvaged from old wooden stair treads was installed above the sink area.
GE’s Profile 30 in. Double Electric Wall Oven with upper Built-In Microwave in Stainless Steel was installed and a Black 30 in. 5-Element Profile Smooth Cooktop with Power Boil and digital controls was installed as well.
