Dated 1990's Kitchen Gets Modern Update in East York, PA

Recent kitchen remodel in East York, PA

These clients contacted us in hopes of updating their dated 1990s oak kitchen, creating a more modern space. They wanted to do away with the adjacent dinette table in hopes of adding a larger island for seating. The original oak cabinetry with Hunter Green Formica® countertops was a very popular combination for the time period. The kitchen also lacked adequate lighting, and there was no center island.

We redesigned the kitchen with a small center island measuring 45x25, ideal for meal prep, and it provides additional storage. The larger 66x52 island for informal seating was also added, and it contains a double pull-out 35 qt. RevAShelf trash bin on the right-hand side. Three decorative table legs were added to the larger island.

We installed Fabuwood's Allure Fusion cabinetry in a soft Dove color on the perimeter and the islands. In addition, Berenson's Verona Bronze Aspire hardware pulls, and knobs were installed.

A RevAShelf pie-shaped lazy susan was installed along with a pull-out spice drawer, and a roll-out shelf in the pantry was included. Lennon granite countertops were selected with a square eased edge on all the surfaces. Lennon granite is a unique and memorable granite stone, with its blue undertone and shades of brown and grey throughout. The bedrock is white, providing Lennon granite with its light-colored background. On the Ledge Woods 6x24 stone backsplash was applied to the walls around two perimeter walls. A Moen Arbor gooseneck faucet in oil rubbed bronze was installed with a chestnut brown Elkay quartz 60/40 low divide sink.

LED under cabinet dimmable lighting was added along with three Kichler Tuscany 9" oil-rubbed bronze mini-pendants with dimmable 75-watt Edison bulbs and one Richardson 36" bronze island pendant with dimmable 75-watt Edison bulbs above the larger island. In addition, new dimmable LED high hats were also strategically placed in the ceiling.

The walls were painted with Sherwin Williams Dirty Martini SW9119. We used Lion Rock's River Cypress LVT on the kitchen and connected the family room floor.

Client Review: Red Oak took our ideas and vision for a new updated kitchen to a completed masterpiece. From the start with Lora and her design expertise to Paul and his visits to work out ideas with the space, we knew we were with the right company. The Red Oak crew that executed on the build were wonderful. They were professional and listen to all feedback we had as the project progressed. A big investment with Red Oak delivering on all facets of service and workmanship. And... hey met every timeline milestone as agreed on. No horror stories here.. These folks are the best out there. We heard several comments on the finished project from family and friends of "this is something you would see in a magazine" ..
